My Story
Cynthia received her BS in Sociology and M.Ed. in Community Counseling from Georgia Southern University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, National Certified Parent Coordinator, and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. She has over 12 year years of comprehensive clinical experience in providing therapeutic services to children, adults, and families. She also works with clients in the areas of high-conflict divorce and effective parenting practices relating to single-parent, blended families, and two-parent families. She offers therapy to couples in all stages of the relationship. As a trained facilitator of PREPARE/ENRICH, she offers pre-marital and relationship therapy.
Cynthia is a registered play therapist passionate about treating simple or complex trauma in young children. She is also certified as a Collaborative Divorce Parent Coach and Child Specialist. In addition to being a parent coordinator, she is knowledgeable in family systems, parent-child relationships, parental alienation, and reunification therapy. Cynthia has been appointed and testified in many court systems as a Guardian ad Litem and expert witness. When serving in the counselor role, she provides a non-judgmental and compassionate atmosphere in which clients can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, and beliefs as they stem from the conscious or unconscious part of the brain and often cause clients to get stuck in irrational thoughts. Cynthia is eclectic and offers an integrative approach to client-centered therapy, using traditional psycho-dynamic and family systems work, cognitive behavioral techniques, and cognitive processing therapy for trauma work. She tempers the process with creativity, humor, practical solutions, and concrete goals. Cynthia offers faith-based therapy as an option in therapy as she feels her faith has played a big role in her personal growth and offers counseling services to people of every race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
